The Atlantis on Brickell is a 21-story bayfront condominium at 2025 Brickell Avenue, completed in 1982 and designed by Arquitectonica founding partners Bernardo Fort-Brescia, Laurinda Spear and Hervin Romney for developer Sol Luger. The Atlantis on Brickell is one of the most recognizable buildings in South Florida -- a glass slab punched through the middle by a 37-foot cubic void containing a red spiral stair, a palm tree, a Jacuzzi and a small pool. The building has appeared in the opening credits of "Miami Vice" and in Brian De Palma's "Scarface," and remains a defining image of 1980s Miami architecture. The Atlantis is also one of the most heavily photographed buildings in the country, with the palm court appearing in postmodern architecture textbooks and design retrospectives.
