St Louis · #1804

St Louis is a 31-story bayfront condominium at 800 Claughton Island Drive on Brickell Key, completed in 1995 by Swire Properties with architecture by J. Scott Architecture. The building delivered 130 two-bedroom residences, with several owners over the years combining adjacent units into larger floor plans. The smaller unit count keeps the building quieter than Isola or Carbonell, and the floor plates were designed with generous terraces, deep living rooms, and large primary suites that face the bay or the Brickell skyline depending on exposure. St Louis was the third residential tower Swire delivered on Brickell Key, following Brickell Key One in 1982 and Isola in 1990, and helped fill in the western edge of the island. The 800 Claughton Island Drive site keeps St Louis inside Brickell Key's gated island environment, accessed by the single causeway that connects the key to Brickell Avenue. The perimeter baywalk loops past the building's frontage and connects to the Mandarin Oriental and the island's central plaza of restaurants and small retail. Across the bridge, Brickell City Centre, Mary Brickell Village, and the Metromover Knight Center station are within walking distance, and Bayfront Park, the Kaseya Center, and the Brightline MiamiCentral station are a short drive or ride north. PortMiami's cruise terminals are a quick crossing to the east, and the island's small Publix Sabor handles day-to-day grocery needs without leaving the key. The St Louis amenity program is sized to the building's smaller resident count: a heated bayfront swimming pool and sundeck, a fitness center, a sauna, a residents' lounge, a children's play area, and 24-hour concierge and security at the porte cochere. The lobby is controlled-access with attended valet, and on-site management handles the building's day-to-day operations. Because of the all two-bedroom inventory, the larger combined units that exist, and the island setting, St Louis tends to attract owners who want a quieter Brickell Key address with more square footage per residence than the smaller-plan towers nearby, and recent reporting has identified the building as a potential candidate in larger Brickell Key condo-buyout discussions involving Related Group and Terra.
