The Fairchild Coconut Grove · #605

The Fairchild is a five-story bayfront condominium at 3581 E Glencoe Street in Coconut Grove, completed in 2019. Architect Max Strang designed The Fairchild with interiors by Rafael de Cárdenas of Architecture at Large, an Architectural Digest AD100 firm based in New York. The 26 residences at The Fairchild Coconut Grove range from 1,714 to 4,114 interior square feet across two-, three-, and four-bedroom layouts, with 11-foot ceilings throughout and 13-foot ceilings in the penthouses. Each residence is finished with natural stone flooring, Poliform cabinetry with integrated LED lighting, quartz countertops, Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, a custom wet bar, spa-inspired primary baths, and private outdoor living space oriented toward Biscayne Bay. The low-rise scale and the bayfront site allow Strang's signature tropical-modernist forms - deep overhangs, layered terraces, and integrated landscape - to read at residential scale rather than tower scale. The Fairchild is named for David Fairchild, the early-20th-century botanist who introduced thousands of plant species to South Florida and whose namesake Tropical Botanic Garden sits a few miles south in Coral Gables. The Glencoe Street site is in central Coconut Grove between South Bayshore Drive and the Dinner Key marina district, walking distance to CocoWalk and its restaurants and movie theater, the Cocoa Plum Trader Joe's, Greenstreet Cafe, Lulu, Monty's Stone Crab, and Glass and Vine in Peacock Park. Regatta Grove and the Coconut Grove sailing clubs sit a short walk down to the bayfront, and the Coconut Grove tree canopy extends over the surrounding residential streets. The Barnacle Historic State Park, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, the Kampong botanical garden, and Brickell sit short drives north along South Bayshore Drive and South Miami Avenue. The Fairchild amenity program is built around private boat slips on the bay, a rooftop pool deck with private cabanas and a sun deck, and a separate sunset rooftop deck with an outdoor living room and a serenity garden. The Fairchild Coconut Grove also includes a holistic wellness spa with treatment rooms, a hammam, a steam room, and a sauna, plus a state-of-the-art fitness center, a bayside fire lounge, 24-hour security, and valet parking. The biophilic design language extends through living plant walls, integrated landscape designed to complement Strang's architecture, and the use of natural materials - stone, wood, and water - throughout the common spaces. The combination of the AD100 interior design, the private boat slips, and the 26-unit count places The Fairchild among the most architecturally considered boutique projects in the Coconut Grove submarket.
