55 Merrick · #704

55 Merrick is an 8-story Mediterranean-style condominium at 55 Merrick Way in downtown Coral Gables. The 55 Merrick building was developed by Dayco and designed by Fullerton Diaz Architects, with completion in 2008. The 55 Merrick floor plate carries approximately 166 residences in one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts, with units featuring 10-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass, Italian porcelain flooring, European cabinetry, and a Bosch appliance package. The Mediterranean Revival exterior at 55 Merrick was sized to fit the historic Coral Gables streetscape rather than push above the surrounding tree line, and the building's barrel-tile roof and arched window detailing pull directly from George Merrick's original City Beautiful vocabulary. Merrick Way runs through the heart of downtown Coral Gables, one block off Miracle Mile and within sight of Coral Gables City Hall. From the 55 Merrick lobby, the Biltmore Hotel, the Venetian Pool, and Books and Books are each within walking distance, along with the Miracle Mile restaurant row, the Coral Gables Trolley line, and the Andalusia Avenue retail strip. The University of Miami sits about five minutes south along Ponce de Leon Boulevard, with Coconut Grove ten minutes east along Bird Road, and Miami International Airport about fifteen minutes north along Le Jeune Road. The Coral Gables Country Club, the Granada Golf Course, and the Coral Gables Museum are all within a short drive. 55 Merrick's amenity program includes a rooftop swimming pool with cabanas, a fitness center, a residents' lounge with billiards, a private theater, a club room, a business center, concierge service, and 24-hour security with covered parking. The rooftop deck gives 55 Merrick residents a clear view across the City Beautiful tree canopy toward the Biltmore tower and Coral Gables's signature Mediterranean rooflines. Inside the units, Italian porcelain flooring, European cabinetry, Bosch appliances, and stone bathroom counters carry through the building's standard finish package, and the larger three-bedroom plans on the upper floors include wraparound terraces and corner exposures over the downtown grid.
