The Waves · #1201

The Waves is a 12-story oceanfront condominium at 9455 Collins Avenue in the village of Surfside, completed in 1991 and designed by local firm Sklar Isaac & Associates Architects. The Waves contains approximately 106 residences across one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans ranging from roughly 1,120 to 2,520 interior square feet, with each home opening to a private balcony framing direct Atlantic Ocean or Intracoastal views. The building's mid-rise, twelve-story scale fits the low-rise Surfside skyline -- a deliberate counterpoint to the much taller condo-hotel towers on the Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles stretches of Collins Avenue -- and gives the building a tight, established owner-occupied profile relative to the newer ultra-luxury inventory north and south. The 9455 Collins Avenue site sits on the Atlantic between 94th and 95th Streets in Surfside's residential heart, two blocks south of Bal Harbour Village and across the street from the rebuilt site of the former Champlain Towers. Bal Harbour Shops -- the open-air luxury retail and dining destination anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and the Whitman Family's flagship boutiques -- is a five-minute walk north, while Harding Avenue's cafes, kosher restaurants, and the Surfside Community Center and tennis facility are one block west. The Surfside boardwalk runs directly behind the property, providing a continuous oceanfront pedestrian connection through Bal Harbour and into Haulover Park. The Waves runs a traditional full-service Surfside amenity package geared to year-round residents and seasonal owners: a heated oceanfront swimming pool with deck and pool service, Jacuzzi, fitness center, doorman, full-service concierge, valet parking, a social and card room, and a Shabbat elevator serving the building's observant Jewish residents -- a hallmark of Surfside oceanfront condos that reflects the surrounding community. Direct private beach access and beach service from the pool deck round out the package, and the building's combination of mid-rise scale, direct beach, walkable village location, and full amenities continues to make The Waves a long-favored Surfside oceanfront address relative to comparable price points.
