King Cole · #DS10

King Cole is an 11-story bayfront condominium at 900 Bay Drive on the southeast tip of Normandy Isle in North Beach, Miami Beach, with its own yacht basin on Biscayne Bay. Completed in 1963 for Chicago developers Robert Blum and Robert Rautbord and designed by Melvin Grossman with Fridstein and Fitch, it is a Miami Modern (MiMo) landmark known for its boomerang-shaped plan and floor-to-ceiling glass facade. The building was converted to a condominium in the mid-1970s, with most original condo sales recorded from 1975 to 1978. King Cole condos number 266 residences under Miami-Dade records: 42 studios, 134 one-bedroom, 82 two-bedroom, 5 three-bedroom and 3 four-bedroom homes. The most common plans measure about 920, 1,003, 1,147, 1,520 and 1,540 square feet, with compact studios and one-bedrooms from about 371 to 678 square feet and a few combined and penthouse residences of about 3,000 to 3,900 square feet. Units have floor-to-ceiling glass and private balconies facing Biscayne Bay, Allison Island, La Gorce Island and the Miami Beach skyline, or west toward the sunset over the bay; many have been updated with impact windows and doors, porcelain or marble floors and new kitchens. About 30 boat slips are recorded as separately deeded dock units. The marina has slips from about 50 to 83 feet, some deeded and sold separately and others rented through the association. Residents also have a heated bayfront pool off the lobby, a fitness center overlooking the marina, a rooftop deck, a social room and lounge with billiards and ping-pong, a library and bar area, a business center, a large children's playroom and playground, a barbecue area and bike and kayak storage. A 24-hour doorman, front desk and security and valet parking complete the services; one valet space is typically included, with additional spaces about $95 a month. Listings report that maintenance covers electricity, water, cable and internet, and MLS records generally list one lease per year. The building sits where Normandy Isle meets Indian Creek and Biscayne Bay, a short walk or bike ride over the 71st Street bridges to the North Beach (NoBe) shops and restaurants, the oceanfront and the Miami Beach beachwalk. Normandy Shores Golf Club is nearby, Bal Harbour Shops are about 10 minutes north, and the 79th Street Causeway leads to the mainland and the Design District. For buyers comparing North Beach condos and Miami Beach bayfront condos with boat dockage, King Cole is one of the few buildings that pairs entry-level pricing with its own marina. Recent listings describe updated common areas, a new social room and building-wide hurricane-impact window replacement under contract, and some sellers have paid current assessments in full. Combined residence 702/704, a four-bedroom of about 3,189 square feet, sold for about $2.22 million in August 2026, and a 1,540-square-foot two-bedroom sold for $590,000 the same month. As of October 2026, MLS shows 13 King Cole condos for sale asking about $255,000 to $799,000 and 15 for rent at about $1,999 to $6,900 a month, and closed sales over the prior 12 months had a median of about $341 per square foot.
