Ocean Manor Beach Resort is an 11-story oceanfront condo-hotel at 4040 Galt Ocean Drive in Fort Lauderdale, completed in 1960 by developer James S. Hunt with architecture by Adache Group Architects. The Ocean Manor building holds approximately 125 residences in studio and one-bedroom layouts, sold and rented as condo-hotel units under an on-site management program. Most Ocean Manor units are turnkey furnished and include kitchenettes, oceanfront balconies, ocean or city exposures, and updated baths. The original 1960 design has been refreshed multiple times over the decades, but Ocean Manor remains the first high-rise built on Galt Mile and one of the few mid-century resort properties still operating on the strip in its original form. The Ocean Manor site sits at the southern end of the Galt Mile, a mile-long strip of mid-century oceanfront towers along A1A in north Fort Lauderdale. The Galt Mile community runs walking and beach-cleanup programs along the strand, and the 200-foot private beach at Ocean Manor was one of the original celebrity haunts of the 1960s, hosting visits from figures including the Rat Pack. The Galt Ocean Mile Reading Center, the Galt Mile Promenade, and a strip of family-owned restaurants and tiki bars sit within walking distance. Las Olas Boulevard and the Fort Lauderdale Beach Boardwalk are ten minutes south, Pompano Beach Pier and Fishing Village are ten minutes north, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is roughly fifteen minutes away. The Pompano Beach restaurant district at the new Fishing Village is also a short drive up A1A. Ocean Manor residents share a beachfront pool deck, the on-site Bamboo Beach Tiki Bar restaurant, a coffee shop, a beach service program with chairs and umbrellas, a fitness room, valet parking, conference space, and 24-hour security. The Ocean Manor condo-hotel rental program is handled by the on-site management team, and owners can either occupy units full time or place them in the short-term rental pool with daily, weekly, or monthly stays. The retro mid-century footprint, the 200-foot private beach, and the Bamboo Beach Tiki Bar remain Ocean Manor's defining draws for both owners and visitors.
