The Whitfield Las Olas

The Whitfield is a planned 12-story hotel and condominium at 1007 East Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, on the northwest corner of Las Olas and SE 10th Terrace just east of downtown. Fort Lauderdale developers Steve Hudson of Hudson Capital Group and Charles "Charlie" Ladd of Barron Real Estate are behind it, with Stonehill Taylor Architects named as architect and Stiles Construction as contractor. The hotel is planned as an independent luxury property affiliated with The Leading Hotels of the World. The approved plan pairs an 81-key hotel with 17 private condominium residences: five homes each on floors 8, 9 and 10, plus two penthouses on floor 11. Residences were reported at about 1,500 to 2,400 square feet, and the penthouses at about 5,500 and 6,000 square feet. Owners would have their own entrance and private elevator, separate from the hotel. Parking is in a 74-space underground valet garage served by car elevators. The plans place a restaurant with an outdoor terrace and a library on the second floor, a spa on the third floor, and a pool, cabanas, a cafe and two private dining rooms on the roof, with shops along Las Olas at street level. Reports on the redesign said the residences would be sold as private homes rather than rented as hotel rooms, and that short-term rentals would not be permitted. The developers bought the site in 2016 and broke ground in 2022 on a 10-story hotel approved in 2021. They finished the underground garage by early 2024, then paused work to redesign the project with condos. The City Commission approved the 12-story plan unanimously on January 7, 2025. As of November 2026, no construction restart, financing or sales launch has been reported, and county property records still list the site as vacant commercial land.
