Cocoplum Towers refers to the small set of mid-rise residential buildings inside the Cocoplum gated community in Coral Gables, off Old Cutler Road just south of Coconut Grove. Cocoplum itself spans 345 acres and holds 302 estate homes plus a limited number of condominium and villa addresses, of which Cocoplum Towers is the principal multifamily address. The community was originally part of the Deering family holdings before George Merrick acquired the bayfront parcel in December 1925, and Cocoplum was later redeveloped as a private waterfront enclave with about half its residences sited directly on water. Cocoplum Towers residences are sized for full-time owners, with floor plans that lean toward larger two- and three-bedroom layouts and terraces that look out across the canal system. The Cocoplum gatehouse opens off Old Cutler Road, which traces the Biscayne Bay coastline south from Coconut Grove past Matheson Hammock Park toward Pinecrest. From inside the Cocoplum gates, residents at Cocoplum Towers reach the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, the Deering Estate, and Matheson Hammock's atoll pool within a few minutes by car, and the Coconut Grove village, the University of Miami, and downtown Coral Gables sit about ten to fifteen minutes north. The community's interior canals connect to Biscayne Bay, giving on-water Cocoplum addresses direct ocean access for boating. Miami International Airport is roughly twenty-five minutes north along Le Jeune Road, and the Brickell financial district about fifteen to twenty minutes via the U.S. 1 corridor. The Cocoplum amenity program is run through the community association rather than at the building level. Shared facilities for Cocoplum residents include a clubhouse, tennis courts, a playground, a fitness room, a yacht club and marina, and 24-hour manned gatehouse security with rolling patrols. Cocoplum Towers residences add a building-level swimming pool, fitness room, secured parking, and concierge desk, with landscaped grounds that connect into the broader Cocoplum walking and biking paths. The combination of a low-rise residential building set inside one of South Florida's older guarded enclaves gives Cocoplum Towers a quieter profile than the high-rise condominiums along South Bayshore Drive in the neighboring Grove, and the building functions more like a private community address than a freestanding tower.
